Under the patronage of the President of the Southern Technical University and the supervision of the Dean of the Basrah Technical Institute of Medical Technologies, the “Pulse of Hussein (peace be upon him)” festival was held on the institute’s campus, marking the conclusion of the training course for medical units participating in serving pilgrims during the Ashura season.
The festival witnessed the attendance of university and academic officials, including the President of the Southern Technical University, Professor Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq; the Dean of the Medical Technical Institute, Professor Dr. Firas Jameel Jabbar; the Dean of the Technical Institute of Technology, Professor Dr. Dhiaa Kamel Shari; and the Dean of the College of Engineering Technologies, Professor Dr. Nawras Jameel Jasim. The event was also attended by several faculty and administrative staff, as well as a number of students and training participants.
The program began with a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, followed by a series of Husseini poetic performances, in which participating poets expressed the noble values of Imam Hussein’s (peace be upon him) revolution. This was followed by presentations showcasing the key skills and knowledge acquired by the trainees during the course.
The event also featured a recognition ceremony for the participating trainees, during which certificates of appreciation were distributed. A concluding medical awareness workshop was presented, focusing on key health and first aid guidelines during religious rituals.
In his speech during the event, Professor Dr. Firas Jameel Jabbar, Dean of the Medical Technical Institute, expressed his pride in hosting the festival, noting that it reflects the institute’s commitment to supporting students and developing their capabilities—not only academically, but also in the fields of volunteerism and humanitarian service. He commended the participants for their dedication and readiness to serve the community.
This initiative aligns with the institute’s ongoing efforts to instill values of altruism, volunteerism, and community service in students, while enhancing their health awareness and sense of social responsibility in harmony with the eternal values of Imam Hussein’s (peace be upon him) noble movement.
