A Seminar on Family Cohesion and the Impact of Social Media as Part of the Psychological Guidance Week at the Technological Technical Institute in Basra

Under the patronage and presence of the President of Southern Technical University, Professor Dr. Adnan Abdullah Atiq, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Technological Technical Institute in Basra, Assistant Professor Dr. Diyah Kammel Shary, and in the presence of the Dean of the Technical Medical Institute, the Dean of the Technical Administrative Institute, the Director of the Continuing Education Center, and the Director of the Student Activities Department, the activities of the second day of University Psychological Guidance Week commenced.

The University Psychological Guidance Unit, in collaboration with the Family Guidance Center at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussein and the Media and Government Communication Division, organized a guidance seminar entitled:
“Family Cohesion and Its Relationship with Social Media,”
delivered by the center’s consultant, Mr. Amjad Mutar Danin.

The seminar addressed several key topics, including:

  • An introduction to social media and its role in daily life.

  • Methods for optimal use of these platforms and minimizing their negative effects.

  • Mechanisms for strengthening family bonds and building a cohesive community based on real-life interaction, free from the influence of the virtual world.

This seminar is part of the Institute’s efforts to promote students’ mental health and raise their social awareness, contributing to the creation of a supportive and motivating university environment that fosters positive communication.
