The Department of Chemical Industries is one of the specialized departments that supply the industrial and oil sectors with technical cadres. It was established in 1976, and its name was later changed to the Department of Chemical and Petroleum Industries to keep pace with modern developments and the expansion of specializations. It now includes two branches: the Refining Branch and the Industrial Units Operation Branch.
This year, the Technical Technological Institute was transformed into the Engineering Polytechnic College. Consequently, the certificates awarded by this department include a Technical Diploma (two academic years) as well as a Bachelor of Engineering (four years of study), qualifying graduates to work in the industrial and oil sectors.
