Basra Engineering Polytechnic College Holds Workshop on Quality Assurance in Education under the Bologna Process

Under the patronage of the Dean of Basra Engineering Polytechnic College, Dr. Diyah Kammel Shary, the Scientific Affairs Division, in cooperation with the Studies and Planning Division and the Media and Government Communication Division, held a workshop entitled “Quality Assurance in Education under the Bologna Process” at the College Council Hall.

The workshop addressed quality assurance mechanisms within the Bologna Process in accordance with the standards outlined in the ESG 2015 framework. It covered internal quality assurance, external quality assurance, and quality assurance agencies, as well as the role of the Bologna Process Quality Assurance Council and the Academic Performance Indicator Form.

The workshop aimed to enhance awareness of quality assurance concepts and the requirements for implementing the Bologna Process, while highlighting mechanisms for developing the educational process in line with approved standards. These efforts contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of education and its outcomes. The objectives are also aligned with the Southern Technical University’s quality assurance policy under the Bologna Process, which emphasizes student-centred education, improving the teaching and learning environment, and developing academic programs in accordance with labour market requirements and European standards.

The workshop also discussed several key areas of quality assurance, including assessment and improvement, teaching and learning, academic program quality, institutional structure, partnership, and participation. It further highlighted the importance of adopting clear mechanisms for evaluation, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

The workshop targeted associate deans, heads of academic departments, department rapporteurs, and officials responsible for studies and planning, scientific affairs, and quality assurance, as well as quality assurance liaison officers. This contributes to strengthening coordination and integration among the departments, divisions, and units concerned with implementing the requirements of the Bologna Process.

The workshop was delivered by the Dean of the College, Dr. Diyah Kammel Shary, who highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of quality and coordinating efforts among the various academic and administrative units. He emphasized that such efforts contribute to fulfilling the requirements of the Bologna Process and enhancing academic and institutional performance at the College.
