The Technological Technical Institute in Basra hosts a scientific seminar during Entrepreneurship and Innovation Week.

Under the patronage of the Dean of the Technological Technical Institute in Basra, Assistant Professor Dr. Diyah Kammel Shary, the Institute organized an educational scientific seminar entitled:
“Secrets of Smart Launching for Your Own Project – The Journey of a Businesswoman in the World of Paints and Decoration,” attended by faculty members, staff, and students of the Institute.

The seminar highlighted the concept of smart launching for emerging projects and emphasized the importance of selecting a project idea based on market needs analysis, competitor assessment, identifying the target audience, and maximizing opportunities for success.

Delivered by Dr. Hanadi Abdul-Ridha Abdul-Latif, Head of the Department of Civil Technologies, the seminar covered the stages of establishing a project—from conceptualizing the idea, through financial planning and cost estimation, to marketing strategies and brand building—particularly in the paints and decoration sector, which is considered a promising area in the local market. It also focused on essential entrepreneurial skills, including leadership, time management, decision-making, and teamwork.

Eng. Alaa Ali Kazem, Managing Director of Al-Yasmin Company, shared her practical experience in founding and managing her business in the paints and decoration sector. She discussed the initial challenges she faced, ways to overcome them, the importance of innovation in delivering products and services, building customer trust, and leveraging social media for marketing and promotion. She also stressed the need to provide an encouraging environment that enhances women’s participation in economic development.

The seminar concluded with an interactive Q&A session, during which students and attendees posed questions regarding financing mechanisms for small projects and entry into the paints and decoration market. The discussion reflected the students’ strong interest in pursuing entrepreneurship after graduation. The event took place at the Institute’s Central Conference Hall.
