The Technological Technical Institute in Basra Organizes a Workshop on the Use of Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Combating Drug Abuse

Under the patronage and presence of the Dean of the Technological Technical Institute in Basra, Asst. Prof. Dr. Diyah Kammel Shary, the Career Development, Employment, and Alumni Follow-up Unit, in cooperation with the Media and Government Communication Division, organized a workshop as part of the Anti-Drug Week activities titled:

“Using Artificial Intelligence Technologies in Combating Drug Abuse.”

The workshop was delivered by Asst. Lecturer Dr. Mahmood Aref Al-Shureida, who highlighted the most significant applications of artificial intelligence in supporting national efforts to reduce the spread of drugs, including:

  • Predicting high-risk areas,

  • Analyzing trafficking networks,

  • Detecting online promotion,

  • Supporting treatment and rehabilitation programs through smart and proactive methods.

He also emphasized the importance of establishing a unified national data system that supports security and health decision-makers, in addition to activating awareness programs within the university campus to protect students from the risks of addiction.

The workshop was attended by a number of the institute’s staff and students.
