To combat electronic extortion, the Basra Technical Institute and National Security hold an awareness seminar at the institute. The Dean of the Basra Technical Institute, represented by Assistant Professor Dr. Arkan Yaqoub Youssef, in collaboration with the National Security Apparatus, organized an awareness seminar on the dangers of electronic extortion and ways to mitigate its spread. The seminar featured officers and ranks from the National Security Apparatus with technical, engineering, and technological expertise, who shared successful attempts to apprehend various cases within and outside Basra. Professors, staff, and students attended the seminar to learn about the methods and deceptive tactics used by extortionists, which are real-life scenarios to be aware of and avoid. Documentaries showcasing cases reported to the National Security Apparatus were presented, highlighting the impact of these practices on society and its safety. The Dean emphasized the ethical commitment within the academic institution and the collaboration with various security agencies and government institutions to enhance awareness and education for teachers and students, focusing on their safety and that of their families. At the end of the workshop, the Dean expressed gratitude to the officers of the National Security Apparatus for providing important information to the students and attendees.”
