The Department of Electrical Technologies at the Institute of Technology and Technical Studies in Basra organized a scientific field trip to Al-Najibiya Power Plant.

Under the patronage of the Dean of the Institute of Technology and Technical Studies in Basra, Assistant Professor Dr. Diyah Kamel Shary, the Department of Electrical Technologies organized a scientific field trip for second-year students to Al-Najibiya Power Plant, accompanied by faculty members Ms. Huda Ahmed and Mr. Mohammed Sadiq Younis.

The visit aimed to enhance the students’ practical skills through on-site exposure to electrical power generation systems at the station, as well as to familiarize them with the operational mechanisms of generating units, control and protection systems, in addition to observing the stages of power transmission and distribution.

The program included a guided tour across the plant’s departments, during which students were introduced to turbines, electrical generators, and control systems. Technical staff provided clear and concise explanations regarding the nature of work and standard operating procedures.

This field trip forms part of the Department’s ongoing academic activities, which are designed to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application and to develop students’ competencies in line with labor market requirements.
