The Launch of the Student Conference for the Discussion of Graduation Projects for the Academic Year 2025/2026 at the Institute of Technology in Basra.

Under the patronage of the President of the Southern Technical University, Professor Dr. Adnan Abdullah Ateeq, and under the supervision of the Dean of the Institute of Technology in Basra, Assistant Professor Dr. Diyah Kamel Shary, and in the presence of the Deans of Basra’s academic formations and a number of university department directors, the Student Conference for the Discussion of Graduation Projects for the academic year 2025–2026 was launched, to be held over two days under the theme: “Student Creativity Leads Sustainable Development Towards New Horizons.”

The conference proceedings commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an, followed by the Iraqi national anthem, and a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs of Iraq in recognition of their enduring sacrifices.

Subsequently, the President of the University delivered a speech emphasizing the importance of supporting youth potential and encouraging student creativity, commending the scientific level demonstrated by the Institute’s students and their role in contributing qualified competencies to society.

The first-day activities included a scientific seminar titled “A Study of the Young Researcher Platform Project,” presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulnasser Abduljabbar Abboud, specializing in Communications and Computer Engineering.

The seminar addressed the concept of the project and its significance in supporting young researchers by providing a digital environment that enhances research skills and promotes scientific collaboration. It also discussed implementation mechanisms and the potential utilization of the platform within the academic community, in addition to reviewing key aspects related to graduation projects and methods for their development in line with labor market requirements and technological advancements.

The conference forms part of the Institute’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the academic environment and develop students’ skills, contributing to the achievement of its theme: “Student Creativity Leads Sustainable Development Towards New Horizons.”
