The Institute of Technology in Basra organized a scientific seminar on the dangers of drugs and addiction.
Under the patronage of the Dean of the Institute of Technology in Basra, Assistant Professor Dr. Diyah Kamel Shary, the Environmental Pollution Research Unit, in cooperation with the Media and Government Communication Division, organized a specialized scientific seminar entitled “Drugs and Addiction: Impacts, Complications, and Treatment Pathways.”
The seminar was held in collaboration with Al-Warkaa University College at the Central Conference Hall of the Institute.
The seminar was delivered by Professor Dr. Mahmoud Salem Thamer, with Assistant Professor Dr. Arkan Yaqoob Yousif serving as the session rapporteur. The speaker addressed several key themes, including:
- Health Awareness: Highlighting the severe physiological and psychological effects of drug abuse on individuals.
- Societal Implications: Examining the impact of addiction on family structure and social stability.
- Treatment Pathways: Outlining the scientific and medical approaches to recovery and rehabilitation.
This seminar forms part of a series of scientific and awareness activities adopted by the Institute of Technology in Basra to promote cultural and health awareness among students and staff, as well as to strengthen the role of academic institutions in addressing negative phenomena that threaten society.
The seminar was attended by the Assistant Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Hameed, along with a number of staff members and students. It also featured in-depth discussions on ways to protect youth from the risks of addiction and the importance of coordinated efforts among governmental and educational sectors.
