The Technological Technical Institute in Basra Organizes a Training Course on “Engineering and Actual Stress in Steel and Their Impact on Structural Design”
Under the patronage of the Dean of the Technological Technical Institute in Basra, Assistant Professor Dr. Diyah Kammel Shary, the Continuing Education Unit, in collaboration with the Department of Surveying Technologies and the Media and Government Communication Division at the Institute, organized a three-day training course entitled “Engineering and Actual Stress in Steel and Their Impact on Structural Design”, held in the lecture halls of the Department of Surveying Technologies.
The course included scientific lectures and practical applications that addressed the difference between engineering stress and true stress in metallic materials, particularly steel, highlighting the impact of each on the behavior of structural elements under load. The sessions emphasized the importance of using accurate stress values in structural analysis and design in accordance with modern engineering codes.
The course was delivered by Dr. Aqeel Mohammed Hamoud and Ms. Sarah Ahmed Abdulzahra, who stressed the need to link theoretical knowledge with practical applications in laboratories and engineering sites, aiming to enhance the competencies of both faculty and students in analyzing the properties of structural materials and applying them effectively in design and construction projects.
The training course witnessed active participation from faculty members and students, reflecting its significance in developing scientific and practical skills in civil engineering and surveying technologies.
