A Workshop on the Importance of Political Engagement and the Role of Women in Political Participation

Under the patronage of the Dean of the Technical Technological Institute, Assistant Professor Dr. Diya Kammel Shary, the Women’s Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Media and Government Communication Division, organized a workshop entitled “The Importance of Political Engagement in Iraq in General.” The event was held in the institute’s main conference hall.

The workshop was moderated by Assistant Professor Dr. Diya Kammel Shary, who emphasized the importance of participating in political life and highlighted the vital role women can play in public affairs. He underscored the need to empower women across various sectors, particularly in politics, given their significant impact on supporting Iraq’s developmental progress.

The session also addressed the challenges faced by working women and explored strategies to overcome them. In addition, the workshop featured inspiring success stories of Iraqi women who have proven their capabilities in leadership and decision-making roles.

At the conclusion of the workshop, Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Abdul Zahra, Head of the Women’s Affairs Division at the Southern Technical University, and Ms. Israa Sameer Ali, Head of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the Technical Technological Institute, were honored for their outstanding contributions to women’s empowerment and advocacy.

The event was attended by several administrative department heads from the Southern Technical University, academic department chairs from the institute, and a select group of faculty and staff, all of whom contributed to rich discussions and enhanced awareness of the critical role women play across all fields of work.
