The Technical Technology Institute in Basra Organizes a Workshop on Early Warning Systems and Civil Defense Principles
Basra – The Technical Technology Institute in Basra, part of the Southern Technical University, organized a workshop titled “Early Warning Systems and Teaching Civil Defense Principles.” This initiative was carried out under the guidance of the Dean of the Institute, Associate Professor Dr. Arkan Yacoub, in collaboration with the Women’s Affairs Unit, the Services Division, the Civil Defense Unit, and the Student Activities Division.
The workshop was presented by Engineer Ali Fadhil Khudair, Head of the Services Division and Civil Defense Unit, and lasted for two days (February 10-11, 2025). The workshop covered the concept of early warning systems and their significance in protecting against various risks. It also reviewed fire protection systems, the functioning of early warning devices, and their integration with modern technology.
The workshop included a practical exercise simulating a fire outbreak and its extinguishment, aiming to enhance participants’ skills in handling emergency situations.
This workshop comes in response to directives from the Women’s Affairs Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, emphasizing the importance of organizing awareness programs that contribute to educating the academic community and reinforcing safety measures within educational institutions.
