In the Context of the Scientific Affairs Activities at the Technical Technology Institute in Basra
Following the directives of the Southern Technical University Presidency, an important meeting was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Abdul Nasser Abdul Jabbar Aboud, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, with the presence of the heads of the Research Unit and the Missions and Cultural Relations Unit at the institute. The meeting was held with a group of faculty members who are alumni and graduate students from Iranian universities to discuss the activation of the clauses in the memoranda of understanding recently signed with several prestigious Iranian universities.
These memoranda were signed during the celebration of Iraqi-Iranian Science Day in the holy city of Karbala, attended by the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Undersecretary for Scientific Affairs. The discussions focused on the importance of activating the main points outlined in the agreements with Iranian universities. A number of key actions were agreed upon to strengthen academic and scientific cooperation.
Some of the key agreements include:
- Faculty exchange programs through visiting professors between the universities.
- Establishing research groups in coordination with graduate students from both our universities and the Iranian institutions.
- Organizing reciprocal workshops and training courses in various engineering disciplines.
- Updating curricula to align with market demands.
- Creating a virtual library in coordination with the IT department at the institute to exchange books, theses, and research papers.
A follow-up meeting was scheduled to review the progress of the discussed actions. This collaboration marks an important step in enhancing scientific and cultural relations between Iraqi and Iranian universities and reflects the institute’s commitment to advancing academic and research development to meet the needs of the academic community.
