As part of the Global Entrepreneurship Week activities and under the patronage of Dr. Arkan Yaqub Yusuf, Assistant Professor and Dean of the Institute of Technology, the Department of Chemical Industries Technologies organized a scientific seminar titled “The Role of Renewable Bio-Based Materials in the Production of Bioplastics.” This seminar aligns with the department’s efforts to develop environmentally friendly solid materials that contribute to job creation and environmental protection from pollution.

The seminar was presented by Ms. Ata’a Joud Ali, who discussed the importance of using renewable bio-based materials as a sustainable alternative in plastic production, thereby mitigating the negative effects of conventional plastic waste. The lecture also highlighted the benefits of bioplastics in reducing carbon emissions and promoting a green economy by creating new job opportunities in the sustainable industries sector.

The seminar was widely attended by faculty members, students, and individuals interested in sustainable technology, and a fruitful discussion took place regarding the future potential for applying these materials across various industries.

This initiative underscores the Institute of Technology’s commitment to enhancing the role of scientific research in providing practical solutions to environmental challenges, in alignment with the global sustainable development goals.
