A course titled “Biological Sensors in Medical Diagnosis” was held on December 24-25, 2023, in the Department of Anesthesia Techniques

The lecturer of the course was Dr. Ali Ghanem Kataa.

The course encompassed an introductory overview of Biosensors, detailing their composition, operational principles, and their applications in the field of medical diagnostics. This included the utilization in devices for blood glucose monitoring, home pregnancy tests, and the detection of pathogens such as COVID-19, Salmonella typhi, and Hepatitis B

A distinguishing feature of these devices is their high sensitivity to detect low concentrations of pathogens, coupled with the high selectivity for the specific pathogen for which the test is designed. This is further enhanced by the rapidity and simplicity of the measurement process.

The course was attended by a number of professors from the medical departments at the institute.
