Mission

Preparing intermediate cadres who possess competence and experience and possess professional ethics and who seek to improve the condition of our organizations by linking educational programs for the various specializations of our institute in a way that suits the needs of society. Rapid response to changing needs by keeping pace with scientific and technical developments.

The Goals of Institute

1- Accommodating the largest number of those interested in technical education to contribute to achieving sustainable development.

2- Qualifying and developing cadres in technical fields according to the quantitative and qualitative needs of the labor market.

3- Preparing scientifically distinguished cadres capable of dealing with modern technologies.

4- Establishing joint cooperation relations with the private sector to meet the needs of the labor market.

5- Providing educational programs that contribute to raising the scientific and applied level to contribute to community service.

The institute in brief

  • The institute was opened in the middle of the third month of the year 1973 under the name (The Technical Institute in Basra) in cooperation with UNESCO and the Foundation for Technical Institutes, according to the usual agreement, in an effort to graduate advanced technical cadres who can fill the needs of official and semi-official institutions and departments in the Iraqi governorates.
  • The name of the institute was changed to the Institute of Technology and then to the Technical Institute in Basra. In 2001, it was decided on the name of the Technical Institute in Basra.
  • The Higher Health Institute joined our institute on 7/24/1988, and thus the institute began to provide the community with technological, administrative, and health specializations.
  • The institute includes (16) scientific departments, (7) In technological specializations, (4) In administrative specializations, (5) In medical specialties.
  • The institute includes mechanical workshops, numerous laboratories in all specializations, car repair workshops, and refrigeration workshops. The goal is to train students during the academic year and apply practical experiences by linking the theoretical side with the practical side so that the student is qualified to enter the labor market after graduation.
  • The Institute has an Environmental Pollution Research Unit that provides the Institute with scientific research, in addition to holding scientific lectures, workshops, and scientific seminars in the field of environment and pollution to serve members and students.
  • The institute has an office for scientific and advisory services that provides scientific consultations to state departments and concludes and implements contracts in the field of specialization.
  • A health center was opened in 6/2019 within the institute’s area to provide health care to members, students, and the groups surrounding the institute, as well as the presidency of the Southern Technical University.
