Awareness Workshop on “Occupational Safety in the University Environment” at the Technical Technological Institute in Basra

Supported by support of Assistant Professor Dr. Diyaa Kamel Shari, Dean of the Technical Technological Institute in Basra, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit, in collaboration with the Mechanical Technologies Department and the Student Activities Division, organized an awareness workshop titled:

“Occupational Safety in the University Environment – A Collective Responsibility to Ensure a Safe Learning Environment.”

This initiative is part of the institute’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of safety and prevention within the academic community. The workshop was presented by Engineer Mundhir Jaber Issa, a member of the Mechanical Technologies Department. He covered several key topics related to occupational safety concepts and their importance on campus. He highlighted the main types of risks that students and staff might face, including physical, chemical, security, bodily, and psychological hazards. The presenter also reviewed preventive measures and proper responses to accidents, emphasizing the necessity of safety requirements within educational institutions, such as:

  • Clear instructional signage
  • Early warning systems
  • Emergency evacuation plans
  • First aid supplies

All aimed at creating a safe and stable learning environment that supports the quality of the educational process.
