Basra Technical Institute Explores New Avenues of Cooperation with Basra Oil Company

In line with efforts to strengthen partnerships between academic institutions and the industrial sector, a delegation from the Basra Technical Institute — one of the formations of the Southern Technical University — visited the headquarters of the Basra Oil Company.

The delegation was headed by Dr. Abdulnasser Abduljabbar Aboud, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, and included Dr. Ali Fakher Habeeb and Mr. Youssef Mahmoud Salem. They were received by Mr. Mahdi Khamis Ghadir, a representative of the company and a member of the Industrial Advisory Council.

The meeting focused on several key areas of potential collaboration, including:

  • Organizing on-site training programs for students at the company’s operational facilities.

  • Conducting specialized training courses for institute staff in occupational and environmental safety.

  • Exploring opportunities for curriculum development and laboratory upgrades to align with labor market requirements.

The Basra Oil Company expressed its full readiness to cooperate with the Institute in various areas of mutual interest, emphasizing the importance of equipping students with practical skills and real-world experience to enhance their employability and prepare them for a successful transition into the workforce.
