The Technological Technical Institute Marks the Arbaeen Pilgrimage with a Campaign Against Extremism and Drug Abuse
The Technological Technical Institute in Basrah Launches Awareness Campaign Against Extremism and Drug Abuse During the Arbaeen Pilgrimage
Under the direction of Assistant Professor Dr. Diya Kammel Shary, Dean of the Technological Technical Institute in Basrah, the Institute launched an educational awareness campaign targeting pilgrims of Imam Hussein (PBUH). The initiative aimed to raise community awareness about the dangers of extremism, violence, sectarianism, and the growing threat of drug abuse.
As part of the campaign, volunteers distributed posters and educational brochures directly to pilgrims, delivering messages that promote tolerance, highlight the risks of falling into violent or destructive behaviors, and emphasize the importance of social solidarity in protecting both individuals and the wider community.
The campaign witnessed active field participation from the Dean, Assistant Professor Dr. Diya Kammel Shary; Mr. Murtadha Mohammed Bandar, Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs; Mr. Duraid Habeeb Ali, University Liaison Officer; and Mr. Ali Mahmoud, Director of Student Activities at the Southern Technical University.
Also taking part in the initiative were the Head of the Student Activities Division at the Institute, the Head of the Legal Division, the Media and Government Communication Unit, a number of staff members, and a dedicated team of student volunteers.
This campaign is part of a broader series of initiatives that the Institute is committed to implementing, reinforcing its leading role in community service and awareness-raising—especially during religious seasons that gather large numbers of visitors and offer valuable opportunities for outreach and education.
