With the Support of Assistant Professor Dr. Dhiaa Kamel Shari, Dean of the Technological Institute in Basra, the Department of Chemical Industries Technologies held a student seminar titled “Pump Maintenance.”
The seminar aimed to educate students on how to properly maintain pumps and ensure their efficient operation, while also deepening their understanding of the importance of regular maintenance to extend the operational lifespan of pumps. The session covered the fundamentals and mechanisms of pump maintenance, with a focus on periodic inspection and the early detection of potential malfunctions that could affect performance. It also addressed key procedures to maintain pump efficiency across various industrial applications. The seminar was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Marwa Kifah Badr, the department’s rapporteur, who presented both the theoretical and practical aspects of maintenance. She explained how to carry out maintenance effectively to ensure continued pump performance and shared tips on identifying recurring issues and resolving them before they escalate into larger problems. This seminar is part of a series of scientific activities organized by the institute to enhance students’ scientific and practical skills across different engineering and technological disciplines.
